For more than 1,000 years the Hohokam peoples occupied the area the would become Phoenix, AZ. The Hohokam made the area livable by creating roughly 135 miles of irrigation canals. Phoenix, with nearly 1.5 million people, is now the sixth most populated city in the United States. Phoenix, AZ was incorporated in 1881 after being founded in 1861 and is located near the salt river. In 1912 President Taft made Phoenix the capital of the newly formed state of Arizona. Phoenix is home to many Intel locations, along with many other manufacturing companies offering many jobs around the area.
Phoenix, AZ is located in the northeastern reaches of the Sonoran Desert and has a subtropical arid climate. The summer average high temperatures are typically over 100 degrees Farenheit (38 C)….sometimes reaching as high as 120 degrees Farenheit.
